Meta Quest 2 & 3
WITH SIDE QUEST
Step 1. Enable Developer Mode on your Quest

Open the Meta Quest app on your smartphone.

Go to Menu → Devices → [your headset].

Tap Developer Mode and enable it.

If you don’t see it, you’ll need to create a free developer account at dashboard.oculus.com.

Step 2. Install SideQuest on your PC

Download SideQuest from: https://sidequestvr.com/setup.

Install and run it on your computer.
Step 3. Connect your Quest to the PC

Use a USB-C cable to connect your headset to the PC.

Put on your headset — a prompt will appear asking to Allow USB debugging.

Check “Always allow from this computer” and then click OK.

In SideQuest, look at the top-left indicator:

Green dot = connected and ready.

Red dot = not connected properly (check your cable/permissions).

Step 4. Install an APK

Drag and drop your .apk file into the SideQuest window.
OR -
Click the “Install APK file from folder” button (box with arrow icon).
SideQuest will show “Success” when the installation is complete.
Step 5. Launch the app
On your Quest headset:

Go to Apps → Unknown Sources.

You’ll find the app you just installed there.
Connect the Quest to Your Laptop
Use a USB-C cable to connect the headset.
Put on the headset and allow USB debugging when prompted.
Transfer the APK File
On your laptop, open File Explorer and go to This PC.
Open the Quest device > Internal shared storage > Download.
Copy and paste your
.apk
file into the Download folder.
Install a File Manager on the Headset
On the headset, open the Meta Quest Store.
Search for VR Android File Manager.
Install the app.
Install the APK
Open VR Android File Manager in the headset.
Navigate to the Download folder.
Select the
.apk
file you copied.When prompted, allow installation from unknown sources.
Confirm the installation.
Launch the App
Go to your Library and go to Unknown Sources
Click on the app to open it.
